There are multiple significances of this upcoming manned mission of gaganyaan which will really stretch our nation to an intangible success in which every person should proud to be an Indian.

The main significance of the mission is to prove the capability of the country by sending the gaganyaan service module propulsion system to the lower earth orbit towards space with four humans for seven days of survival.

Importance Points of Gaganyaan

  1. The Indian Human Spaceflight Programme started in 2006 namely Orbital Vehicle.
  2. This mission was announced by The Prime Minister Mr Narendra Damadar Modi on 15th August 2018 independence day to accomplish the gaganyaan program.
  3. This programme comprises two unmanned mission and one manned mission also approved by Govt of india.
  4. Unmanned or uncrewed mission deal without a human and with a vyommitra robot.
  5. The cost of gaganyaan mission will be around 9024 Crore for a period of 7 years, among it 10,000 crore has been sunctioned by the govt.
  6. The life span of gaganyaan spcecraft is 7days with 3 astonauts.
  7. The oribit module divided into two different modules called service and crew module.
  8. The final mass of the module is 8200kg.
  9. ISRO’s Human Space Flight Centre and Glavcosmos signed a bond to evaluate the possibility of using Russian life support systems and thermal control for Gaganyaan.

Vyommitra

Vyommitra a female robot will replace the astronauts place and a humanoid robot vyommitra to replace the animal place for all the uncrewed mission for gaganyaan test was added by ISRO in a statement on 22 JAN 2020.

It can be capable to speak Hindi, English and will perform several tasks.

Lifting/Rocket Use

GSLV Mark III, the three stages medium launch vehicle rocket is used to lift up the gaganyaan module.
